Lighthouse at Sea
I drew this picture for an art challenge that I took. The inspiration for this picture came from Hans Christian Andersen's The Fir Tree. I always imagined the tree in the story to be at the edge of a cliff, overlooking the sea. For the picture, instead of a tree, I put a lighthouse, because it seemed fitting for the calm picture. I did the coloring in an unusual way, a way that not many people use, or even know about. I first drew in pencil, and colored in pastel. Then, I took a bowl and poured some oil in it. If you want to try this, any oil will work just fine. I also got some ear swabs. I first dipped the ear swabs in the oil, then rubbed it over the oil pastel. (Note: This technique only works with oil pastel.) As you can see, it creates a blended effect to the picture. I then outlined in black.
I hope you liked this painting and would love to hear from you below!
