The Water Castle
Hello everyone! Today I read a book called The Water Castle by Megan Frazer Blakemore. It is about a boy, Ephraim Appledore-Smith, who moves to a town in Maine called Crystal Springs where most of his family grew up. He has moved there along with his mother, father, older brother Price and younger sister Brynn, because of his father's stroke. He ends up being in a class with Will Wylie and Mallory Green. Ephraim eventually learns about the Fountain of Youth, which slows down aging. Ephraim thinks it might save his father. So Ephraim, Mallory, and Will become friends, searching for the fountain (and learning some family history) together.
I feel that this was a very interesting read because this book also includes flashbacks concerning Ephraim's, Mallory's, and Will's ancestors. It helps to give background information, so the reader can understand the story better. I think one of my favorite characters would be Brynn, because she loves books-she even sleeps in the castle library! I think I am like her, because, personally, I really love books too, and you find me most of the time with a book. I think I can definitely recommend this book to somebody.
