Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library

Hello again! I have started the old book reviews again. Three cheers for Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library! This enticing book is about 12-year-old, video-game-obsessed Kyle, and his best friend Akimi Hughes. After writing an essay, they and ten other twelve-year-olds are selected to spend a night in renowned video-game and board-game maker's Mr. Lemoncello's new library. They spend their first night watching movies and playing games (obviously). This is pretty ordinary for a situation like this, right? Wrong. Here's the twist: At the end of their stay, when they are supposed to go home, they find that they are locked in the library. Mr. Lemoncello and his assistant, Dr. Yanina Zinchenko, explain to the children the rules of this new Big Game. Using what's in the library, you have to find the way OUT of the library. Simple in theory, but hard when in action. They are not allowed to use windows, fire exits, or the way that they came in, which would be hopeless anyways, at it is locked from the outside. Of course they have all the necessities, such as a place to sleep and food, as well as a chance to quit then and there. Kyle and Akimi choose to stay, and work as a team.

I especially like this book because of the action, not to mention all the books Mr. Lemoncello mixes into his speech. From those books, I have read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, The Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, Anne of Green Gables, The Cat in the Hat, The Giver, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, No, David!, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, Scat, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, TIME magazine, When You Reach Me, Because of Winn-Dixie, Bridge to Terabithia, Go, Dog, Go!, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!, and Oh, the Thinks you can Think! The full list of all the books mentioned in Mr. Lemoncello's book can be found here.
