Wonder

Sunday is a fun day, and nothing could top it off more than another sweet book review! I'm visiting Texas right now, by the way, and it is amazing. But today, I am doing a very well-known book around kids around fifth through ninth grade. Mention it to anybody around that age group and expect to hear a gasp and excited talk about how amazing the book is. Yes, this book is Wonder. Fine, you probably didn't guess, and the title definitely gave it away.

Auggie Pullman isn't a normal kid. Okay, he's normal in that he plays video games and that he eats ice cream and he loves Star Wars. It's just on the outside. Auggie has facial deformities. It's not just a little bit. It's a lot. As he says in the book, whatever you're thinking, it's probably worse. Because he's had so many surgeries and medical treatments, he's been homeschooled. Until now, that is. Auggie's going to go into fifth grade and middle school at Beecher Prep. His parents and older sister Via (and their dog Daisy) have his back, but will he be able to survive middle school looking like he does?

Wonder

Like everybody and their mother, I absolutely LOVE this book. The book is told from different POVs (points of view) to give a detailed description of what happens. A lot of thinking was gone into this book, that is truly obvious. We're reading this book in class, but I've already read it twice before. So far, we've been asked to make insights into the personalities of the characters, and it was the opposite of hard. The book is so well-written that every single detail is crystal-clear. If you manage to get your hands on this book (it's almost always checked out!), I do suggest you read it.

This book is slated to be a major motion picture, releasing on November 17, 2017.  It is starring Jacob Tremblay as Auggie. This book was a New York Times Bestseller. It has two companion books, Auggie and Me and 365 Days of Wonder.

UPDATE: ADDED THE MOVIE RELEASE DATE
